What kind of line works best with jigging spoons? I know they can be fished vertically or casted. I have difficulty locating bass on my hummingbird. So I'll probably stick with casting to main lake points for now I guess. What works best for you guys?

I use 15lb invisx just got back from the lake and caught around 40 sandbass vertically jigging it it is a very effective presentation for schooling fish.

What do you think of using braid as a main line and a mono leader? That way I could use this same rod for other applications too?

i catch bass using both mono or braid, and that would include casting of vertical jigging. i can not say there is any difference in the amount of bites. here is the one exception, and that is in the winter when you have to just let the spoon hang, you need mono for that. with mono you have some amount of twist, and as the spoon sits there the twist in the line is twirling it back and forth. braid will not have any twist, and the spoon will not twirl any.

I use 20# invisix. Very sensitive and strong. I don't lose many spoons. Also make sure you attach a swivel to your spoon to keep from twisting your line up.
