Very scary indeed...that would've scared the #$@& out of me too. Shark most likely mistook his kayak for a seal. A tan seal.

Sharks don't you usually attack " Boats " so guess if he was in a Hobie he would have been safe. Since he was in a Wilderness systems " Kayak " he was attacked.

Plus I have a " Sand " ride 135. Guess I won't be taking it on the west coast. Hopefully ill be safe next week in Port A.

I don't really buy into the color theory. I'm relatively sure that from below, to a shark, the boat is just a silhouette and the color is indistinguishable. This is just one study and not fact, but just so you guys don't think I'm merely talking out of my you-know-what: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/...nimals-science/Regardless, I'm glad we don't have Whites in the Gulf...

In a somewhat related note, those of y'all with camo, tan, or dark green kayaks may want to avoid gators during mating season too.

I have a tan kayak have had sharks swim around me under me with no problem, now if fish on a stringer different story!
