I have decided that I want to get a PA14. I am wondering when the best time to buy is. When do the 2014s come out? How would that affect the price of the remaining 2013s? Should I look for used or just go new?

If I remember correctly the 2014s came out in August or so last year. But not sure if there will be any significant changes since changes were made last year. As for used or new I just got an Outback and figured if I was going to be spending that much I rather just buy brand new and get the full warranty.

If I was you I would wait a couple months and get the 2013 model at a discount. But me on the other hand, I am sort of impulsive, so I probably would not be able to wait ;-) I don't imagine they will make any drastic changes on the 2014 models... Good luck, either way as long as you go with vantage seating you will not have any regrets. The PA is an awesome choice for big water.

If august is correct for release then I can certainly wait until then. At least I can chose whether the minor upgrades are worth my money or not.

Well I live in Houston. So I have less options. ACK or Fishing Tackle Unlimited mostly. I think there is one other certified Hobie deal as well, not one I have heard of before though.

If you don't mind a used one, watch Craigslist. They can come with lots of add-ons and still spend less than just the yak.
Can test drive it that way too.
Houston has a better selection of these on craigslist than DFW anyways from what i saw when i was shopping for my PA12
edit: Just remember, I think this year is the first year the PA14 has the new seats

Don't buy used. You definitely want the updated seat on the 2013 model.

You just missed a window for big savings. Hobie had all kayaks discounted in May. I bought my PA12 on the last day and saved nearly $500. Mariner Sails is the place to go in the Dallas area. Great staff. Knowledgable and helpful.

Wouldn't say "don't buy used" imo.
Mine was bought of craigslist and is was only 6 months old. It has the new seat.
$400 FF, livewell, wheels and all sorts of other things for $2300
