It's been out for about 3 months in 19 FOW. I've caught only 4 keeper fish off of it. It's in a location that I've had very productive piles that were identical to this one. IT'S DEAD! Catching fish all around the lake at the same depth. Any thoughts???

It's in the wrong place.

I have a pile I put out about 3 years ago and have only caught a couple of fish off it. It is a decent size dead cedar I sunk.

All I can think of is that I put it over a muddy bottom that the crappie don't like. Like you I'm scratching my head.

Since yours has only been 3 months, who knows it might turn on eventually.

Don't know how true it is, but have heard Black Walnut tree will ruin any brush pile. Even one that has fish all over it it is said you put some of this in there and the fish will leave never to return. Dn't suppose you have any of that in this pile huh?

Boo has always been slow to produce for us. We put some on a drop off that has an old fallen tree, before we put the boo in there, it was by far, our best producing spot, after we put the boo, it was dead for several months, I'm talking 7 or 8 months, we have finally started catching fish there again recently. give it time.

So will range cubes unless you're fiahing for carp, drum and buffalo.

Ernest and I dropped boo piles until we figured out that bamboo (or just about any other tree) does not hold fish like a willow tree does.

We have the same results as CCBIRDDOGMAN. Really was upsetting for the first year, and just gave up on then. Then happen to stop back to fish one after this long period of time, and that's where we had our 13 - 2# day. Went back the next weekend for 4 more 2#ers.

Not big on the period of time it takes them to produce, but if this is the norm, we can surely live with it. for all the benefits it has, IF this is the norm, we will continue to use it. It last a long time in the water, if you don't make it dense in Boo (5-6 pieces) it is almost impossible to see on SI (a lot like PVC). So it requires someone to drive right over the top with 2-D Sonar to pick it up. If the 8-10 month thing hold true, we are Ok with that. But that just us. Being much harder for others to locate is better for us, than getting quick results in crappie. As long as they both end up producing.
