Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to saltwater fishing and have a couple questions. I'm heading out to PINS this weekend as was wondering about fishing set up. I will be fishing from the bank and I'm cool with catching anything. What rig setup should I use? What about bait, I have always used shrimp? Is PINS a great place to fish?

Pins is an awesome place to fish. I highly suggest you have 4x4. I was down there a couple weeks ago and the driving was terrible. It changes all the time though. Theres really no reception out on pins for the most part so make sure you have gear incase of a breakdown or you managed to get stuck, etc etc.

As far as fishing from the beach, i suggest getting some pole holders or make your own from pvc.

You can use several different rigs. Easy setup is either a single or double drop rig. With circle hooks and a spider wieght. You can toss it out there and then set you pole in the holder and wait for the bite.

You can use pretty much anything for bait. I suggest fish bites with a piece of shrimp. Or mullet preferably alive.

Fish the guts in between the sandbars.

If you have the time and ability to do so run down the beach unless you find a section that doesnt have any weed in the surf. You may or may not be able to find a cleanish section but dealing with weed is a pain.

If you want to wade in the surf or just fish more actively get some red fish surf rigs( i cant remember the exact name of rig) and put live mullet on it and cast into first and second gut.

I think that should help ya out a bit.
