I live relatively close to this area and went out for about an hour monday night to look around. I used my navionics app to look at depths. I would like to fish this area more and any sand bass or catfish tips would be appreciated. I tried some sure shot the other night with no luck but it was only for a short while and in about 8-10 feet of water. I plan to try it again this weekend if time/honey do list allows.

Look up Tony oak point. He knows that water So does Christian Myrick. We fished there on Sunday. We had the most luck drifting with shad. If you launch at Oak Point park there are some stumps to the right that you can get into catfish at, or if you head to the left there's a rocky point that sticks out real far that we've had luck at. We weren't fishing for them, but there are definitely sandies/hybrids running all along that area, because I was seeing shad jumping a lot. Somethin' was chasing them.

Hey yakinjoe, I never did see you out there Monday night. We went down to the end of Garza Rd. and put in it at the old damn and went to a mid lake hump and did decent on sandies. I'll prolly try to get out there again next Monday,if not possibly Sunday, if you want to join just shoot me a PM and I'll let you know.

Now is the prime time fishing for sandies/hybrids at the old dam cut. The sandies/hybrids will be along the old dam early morning and late evening. The only thing about launching at Garza is hike to the water and parking space.
BM, shoot me a PM, I might be interested depending on what time you head to Lewisville on MOnday.

I saw a ton of sandies a couple weekends ago. We camped to the right. Early in the morning I was catching 3-4 at a time in the castnet from shore. Not awesome for because I want shad. I'm sure along the shoreline any place at oak point is good in the morning. The cats were real slow last weekend. I think drifting on the other side of bridge will be better for cats.

Will do birdman. Ran out of time Monday so I put in at oak point for an hour just to take a look. Did you do any good? We didn't get out there till about 530, but we still did decent. I caught 1 small one at the cut but didn't stay because all I ever catch there is dinks. After that we went to a hump and it was real slow till about 730 from then till about 830 we caught prolly 8-10 each all pretty good size sandies. All call in around 25-30 fow all on the hump ledge on slabs.

I'm planning on going out to Garza again Friday afternoon if anyone wants to join. Unless someone wants to meet up some where else to get on some sandies/hybrid.

It was ironic, Adrian messaged me when I was looking at a tank of giant striped bass at an aquarium in Tulsa LOL.
I'd sure that Garza is better now if you can get a parking space, can tolerate the walk, boat traffic, etc.
RE: OP the threadfin spawn might still be going on at daybreak, that's the surest best for sandbass at OP but maybe it's too late?
Wind blown rocky points can produce all day right now though, but not in great numbers. The rocky points around OP will hold LMB to some extent now through the summer. Sometimes LMB bite is okay at day break or sunset. You'll notice the LMB boats run and gun along the rocks points. OP is best for catfish right now I bet. If you want gar or carp summer at night in the OP slough seems like heaven. I don't really target them. I've had good crappie days at OP during the summer when the lake is at pool but it's just too shallow right now.
There is also big sandy which is a free ramp about 2 miles to the west as the crow flies. It fishes pretty similar to OP (same depth) but with more flats and timber and less boulders.
