Hey all, was curious if anyone had any insight on the best plastic pontoon type boats to buy. I've heard of the bass raider, the prowler, bass hunter. I'm a big guy 270lbs, my fishing buddies are all near 250lbs. Curious about your experience with them and such. Will be using it for small lakes and ponds. Any advice is appreciated.

600 pounds on a bass raider is way more capacity than you can find on a jon boat. But your going to be over that with battery/motor/gear.

My Bass Raider carries two big guys and gear with battery and troll motor just fine.

I have the 10' Bass Raider. I have had 2 - 200# guys, 2.5hp outboard, trolling motor, battery, and some gear on mine and felt safe with no problems on calm water. However, if you get in rougher water it may get a little dicey. Although, none of these type boats are built for rough water. Also, some have a higher profile that others. I would think this should help keep you up above the water line a little more.

Fish Cat. Double bladders on each side. Single rated for 400# so its plenty for all the gear. Believe they have a double as well. I would echo a previous comment on buying a small jonboat. I have a one man fishcat and it is difficult in the winds here in N Tex

I have had 600 lb's of beef in a 10 foot bass raider + TM + battery + gear...... you'll be fine. I'm 6'2 275, my buddy is 325, we were low in water, but it did fine. Toughest thing was launching

Thanks for the help, still not sure what I'm going to go with, but the Bass Raider may be my best bet, Or maybe one of the inflatable sea eagle boats Ive seen.

Before you buy one of those, you should check out craigs list for a Jon boat. I had a bass boat that was a money pit got mad sold it then found a 14 ft Jon boat with trailer trolling motor life vests and paper work straight for 800 dollars.
