Ill tell ya one thing, I used to be stubborn and used EWG for flippin, when I switched to actual straight shank flippin hook, I kicked myself for not doing it sooner. Way better hookups 5/0-7/0. Baits any creaturecan work experiment.

Trokar flippin hooks. 4/0 or 5/0 on baby brush hogs.

Sweet beaver all the way mixed in with a undertaker jr. I use ewg 4/0 but probably need to try the straight shank hooks one of these days!

I was flippin reeds today at lake worth and caught a 3 pounder on a Trokar heavy cover straight shank TK130 I think on 50 lb braid. I didn't set the hook that hard and the fish had bent the hook!!!!! I was amazed.

I don't always catch bass, but when I do, I prefer double digit bass.

I agree with using the straight shanks in heavy vegetaion or in trees. When flipping docks I really prefer this hook because with the screw lock you can skip it without fearing that the bait will slide down the shank. Check em' out:

The VMC Heavy Duty Flippin hooks have actually impressed me as well. Sharp, good hook keeper, points don't roll. They flex a tiny bit more than the Gamakatsu Super Heavy Cover Flippin hook but less than the Trokars. They're good hooks to flip with fluorocarbon and the price is pretty reasonable.

I've had good luck with Gammy Super Line wide gap pitchin Hags Undertakers, F5/6.5 and YUM Craw Pappi 4.5. Pretty much my go-to stuff.

Strike King Hack Attack flipping hook. It is a Gamakatsu Siwash Salmon hook adapted for bass fishing. Strongest bass hook you can get and unlike the screw locks posted above, you can tie a snell knot with these.
