While fishing Ray Roberts Friday I took these pics of deer crossing. I was traveling East pass Wolf Island when I was watching another boat fly through the timber wondering how I could get to know that lane. I was comparing his progress to what I thought were two logs but the logs kept getting closer to me. I thought maybe they were floaters so I headed that way to place them on shore in the event it was floaters but the floaters were deer.

The deer were swimming from the land mass between Wolf Creek and Indian Creek heading towards the opposite shore - quite a distance, just shy of 1.5 miles (measured on graph). As I approach the deer for the pics they separated and then reversed there direction.

I know they couldn't have made it so I quickly dispensed of the phone camera a used the boat to get them headed towards the shore. Fortunately they cooperated by turning around and going towards the destination shore, which was much closer. They made it.

I fished a few BPs and timber while scouting in expectations for my grandkids visit coming soon. BPs weren't very productive and bigger fish were on the wood. Unlike Monday, minnows was the better bait. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase very many. Ended with 13 good eaters while losing quite a few fish in the timber.

Fun stuff. I catch them crossing the slough at PK sometimes and try to get close to them. They swim pretty fast and even faster as you get close.

Actually deer can swim for miles. A lot of there hair is hollow and makes a natural life jacket.

We did that. It sure wears them out. We followed a buck that got chased in by dogs to make sure he got to shore quick. He was so tired, he just layed on the bank for a few minutes. Then got up and walked off looking drunk and wobbly because his legs were so tired.

I've seen some cross here on Cypress before, but it's been quite a while now. See them swim to the islands in the creek above LOP all the time.
