Not that familiar with the lake for crappie so I can not give you advice there. I can tell you though be very careful as that lake can get pretty wicked in windy conditions.
Wear your PFD and stay safe.
Good luck to you. I am sure someone will chime in here as to wear to go for crappie on Twak....

Timbers from 12'-18' east side of dam did well for us a couple of weeks. Fish may suspend at 6' below surface. Good luck!

Brush piles are numbered along the dam. Should be easy to find, And definitely watch the wind, It can be an Ocean out there!

Never been on that lake but +1, and be careful. I hear TWok can be deadly in the wind.

Welcome to the forum!
The best way to get up to speed on a new lake is to hire a guide. You can find one who specializes in crappie on just about every lake in North Texas.
If you want to explore Cedar Creek, I'd suggest you give Chuck Rollins and the folks at BigCrappie.com a shout. I've never, ever heard of anyone coming away from one of their trips disappointed.
