Well, it had been ten days since I last went fishing. As someone who tries to get out at least twice a week, I've been needing to get out bad. Today was the day! I was caught up on the honey-do's, the grad class I'm teaching is winding down, etc. My wife saw I had "the look," and so she sounded relieved when I said I was heading down to the reservoir we live at.

I put in at 3pm, and within a minute of being on the water, I caught this guy by the dam:

Within the first 20 minutes, I had already caught four keeper bass and a good sized catfish. The wind was blowing the shad to the dam, and the bass were loving it!

As the afternoon and early evening continued, the bites kept coming all over the lake. All the bass I caught tonight were aggressively "feeding up" post-spawn. Like this guy, caught hiding under a fallen tree:

I caught most of my fish on baby brush hogs, but I caught a couple on points with flukes. My best two fish of the night were caught on flukes off points. The picture below is one of them. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the other because my iPhone battery died. I sooooo need to get that GoPro!

I caught about 15 keeper bass before I finished at 7:30. I caught a couple of other smaller bass as well. Then, as I'm bring the yak up on shore, my wife rolls up with the kids, so we played at the park for a while before calling it a day... A perfect day!

I know what you mean DJ! It's not nearly as bad here in the woods of East Texas with the trees to break it up, but it definitely seems like it's been a lot more windy this spring here than last.
