What size TM or gas motor do you all run on your buster boats?

I have a 40lb Minkota on mine with a weedless wedge prop. The prop made a noticeable diff. in the speed.

Was thinking about getting a 50lb when this one carps out.

Would I get a big boost on speed by going to the 50 over the 40? When I moved up to the 40lb over the 30lb the diff was huge. 40 to 50 get that same boost?

No, it takes much more thrust to go even slightly faster once you are going at a good speed. For example if you are going at 1 mph and double the thrust you might go to 1.6 mph, but if you are going 3 mph and double the thrust you might only go at 3.2 mph...

Oh, then In that case, I would not get much game with a 50 over the 40 sounds like

Dan,
With the exception of my 4hp Suzuki and 2hp Johnson, I have a 5hp 4 stroke, 2 and 3 HP small outboards that are air cooled. My Honda is Air Cooled, has a centrifugal clutch, and runs all day on a tank of gas. Most weigh around 25-28 lbs.
The FBP I bought from you, I have a 2hp 12 lb cruise n carry that works amazing, and is also air cooled. It has a switch to engage the prop.

With the Air cooled outboards, you don't have to worry about hydrilla or some other algae plugging up the water pump.

How loud is the Cruise n Carry compared to the outboards? Are there any drawbacks?

It is ok because the exhaust goes in the water.
It is about as loud as my 2 stroke 2 hp evinrude, if that makes sense.
best part is it is 12 lbs, and you can engage and disengage the prop.

Gas motor pros: Lightweight compared to electric, great if you need to get anywhere fast, good for large loads, no waiting to recharge...

Gas motor cons: Noise when running, especially 2 cycle- can't hear conversations with other boats or sometimes within same boat, fish hear you coming. Tempermental fiddle to make it start/run- much like gas weedeaters, more maintainence. Stink of gas and exhaust. Cannot be transported at any angle without leaks or in passenger compartment.

Hope this helps.
