Trying to Learn how to fish clear deep water (20-40ft) this summer and need advise on which line to use for jig/worm/c-rig? Been using braid with floro leader? Any suggestion and advise will be welcome

Light cover I'll throw 15 lb fluoro on jigs and t-rigs. Heavy cover I throw 20 lb fluoro. My c-rig set up is usually always a 20 lb fluoro main line with 15 lb fluoro leader.

If its clearer than like 3-4ft visibility don't use braid main line go floro all the way and I wouldn't go heavier than 15lb unless there is heavy cover

If you are fishing grass or heavy wood cover use braid regardless of the water color.

vegetation- braid
heavy wood- 25 pound flouro
anything else- 17-20 pound flouro.
i have had braid dig into wood and cause me lost fish.

Fishing that deep (20-40') there is soooooo much line stretch you really need to "bite the bullet" and try Braid. BUT, Having said that - there are lots of times that the fish will NOT bite if you use Braid. So the next option is to try 20 or 17 Fluoro to minimize the line stretch. (Personally I use Vicious for brushpiles or Seguar for minimum structure.) You can try 15 depending on water clairity but again the smaller the line the more stretch and the weaker the hookset. Another option is the Braid/Fluoro leader combo. It will work but you have a weak link with the connection point between lines. The Braid will NOT stretch and the Leader will try and stretch and tends to break. You can loosen up your drag to help compensate. Also, consider a LONG Rod. 7' absolute minimum. You need the extra length of the rod to help take up the slack line quickly and sufficiently for a good hookset.

Heavy Wood cover use braid and you will be taking pictures of your fish and posting them on here. While the guy with Fluoro will be on here asking why his big fish got away....

Any of it will work.
Braid has a slight edge on long casts.
