I am new to the tourney world and was gonna fish my first tuesday night bt the weather got bad...
I UNDERSTAND that each one may have certain rules... but what are the normal understood rules and general courtesies that one should follow as a new guy like me...

Well for your first tuesday nighter you are required by rule to bring the beer.

Turn off your headlights when backing down the ramp to pick up your boat at night. When you fish day tourneys, do the same thing in the morning.

how close is too close? like for example you see someone coming down a long min lake shoreline towards a point you want to fish... see i feel like if they are 500+ yards away i should be allowed to fish that point and they can go around on either side to keep fishing the shoreline..but there again dont wanna peeve anyone off

500 yds is plenty of room those guys are going to like you!
The basic rule to use is if you don't want it done to you don't do it to anyone else.
Be prepared to have people come in and fish a lot closer to you than five hundred yds. Small tourney won't be a problem as you go up in the money rules will start getting squeezed to the limit. Good luck on your first tourney!!

If you see someone working a shoreline and you do hit a bank that is in the direction the other boat is going you are not going to hurt there feelings. Everyone does it. Just be sure you are the first one to pick up your rod and go around them. I usually won't make another cast until I'm 25-50 yards away. Other anglers will respect that. Small talk helps on the way by!! And if you pass anyone on the way to a hole, pass them on their right side so they can see you. Biggest pet peeve is getting cut off and not swing it coming. Good luck!!
