Anyone ever stayed at Heart of Texas Lake Resort on lake LBJ? If so would you share your experience either good or bad? We usually made a summer trip to Buchannen but with the water so low that's not an option. Thanks

We have rented their big house for extended family over Thanksgiving for several years. It's not a great house. You are paying for location. The kids can catch bluegill off their dock with live worms. They have a large yard for kids to run around on and a small swingset, fort and slide. It is a constant level lake so the water level only fluctuates one foot year around. The resort is close to the upper end of the lake. If you go upstream, there are large boulders in the lake which are difficult to maneuver around. It is fine in a Jon boat with a trolling motor. I wouldn't want to take a new bass boat through there. It is ideal for kayaks and canoes.
The resort has a conference center, a big house, some small cabins, some apartments and condos. They also have a putt putt golf course that is in need of repair.

I've stayed at a friend's about 300 yards up river. Caught many sunfish and a freshwater drum on worms. A few cats, too. I've only fished from the bank. I haven't had much success for LMB there yet but next time I go I'm going to try a few different patterns and see if I can do better with the bass.
I like that stretch of the lake. It's the Colorado River arm I think. +1 about the rocks. Stay away from the granite boulders. They're large, marked and visible but still sometimes people hit them.
There is a light current on this arm usually and a stronger current when they're generating. It doesn't seem fast but if you're floating in the water and aren't tied to anything I'm not sure you can swim faster than it.
Have fun. Let me know if you find out what the bass are biting!

One more clarification about the rocks. It's not like they're everywhere. The boulders are upstream of that location and it gets pretty shallow upstream one the boulders start. Downstream of the boulders that arm of the lake is good and I know of no other hazards. Pull up google maps and you'll be able to see them.
BTW the google maps picture was taken when the water was very' low so on a standard day all of the hazards visible in that photo downstream of you are are well submerged. People ski, tube and use their pwc all the time starting just downstream of the boulders.
You can tell how unusually low it is in the google pic because normally the boulders upstream are navigable with a shallow draft craft but in the google maps picture its almost a solid line of rocks.
Hope this helps.
