I am about to buy a new Lews reel. I am just wondering if the Tourney Pro is the way to go, or if the cheaper models are comparable?

Those suckers did cast a mile...just have to get used to them, and spend less time clearing backlashes

I run mine on free spool, in just extremely used to them so I only gets lil overrun every so often.

You can take the side plate of and there are 4 brakes, I run most of my client reels with 2 disengaged and the side setting of 5

Save the money and get the $99 speed spool. Great little reel for the money.

The mg is good , the tourney pro is better and i really like the new team lews i got(the blk and gold one).

like mentioned earlier i set 2 brakes to off, but generally run the mag at 0-2 depending on conditions.

I've got a speed spool and a tourney mg and love them both. The cheaper ones are not bad at all for the money!
