Hey All, just wanted to post a quick video of an after-work-on-the-way-home pond fishing trip. I posted this in the panfish section, but since it's fly fishing, I figured I would post it here too. This is why I always keep that little 2 weight fly rod tucked behind the seat of my truck! (And sorry about the quality, it's from my Iphone filmed by myself)

Thanks Linecaster! Google maps is such a great resource for finding those little ponds that are dotted throughout most major cities. I sometimes skip out on some trips during the weekends with my buddys and they give me a hard time. I just tell them..."Look I already went fishing four times this week!"...LOL I was after the gills out there (and there are some really nice ones!) but I was hooking up with a bunch of bass. Not complaining, but I lose about 80% of them. I hooked some really nice ones that had me running up and down the bank chasing them only to lose them close to shore or when they went airborne. I guess trying to land them with a tiny fly on a 2 weight can be quite a challenge. It always amazes me that a fish with such a big mouth would eat such a small fly! I took this close up to show that sometimes it is just pure luck to land a decent fish on such a small hook...

I take every oppurtunity to flyfish, always have. That is what is so great about warmwater fly fishing. There is a catchable fish in every urban body of water.

Mateo, looks like we have similar fishing habits. With the cost of gas and our time being very limited, full day fishing trips can be hard to come by sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I still love day long river trips in my yak or weekends at the coast, but that is not an every weekend event. Little urban ponds, creeks, small lakes, whatever, can make for what I call "micro vacations". After a long day of work and before I start the night job (kids, household work) I like taking a 1/2 hour or so fishing break. It helps me forget the work day (well the fishing and the beer I bring with me! ) and clears my mind for when I get home. I also like to take pictures and video clips to share my weekday adventures with others. The fly rod is the perfect tool for this kind of fishing because I don't need to carry around bait, tackle box or any other gear. Just a fly rod, a few flies, a small hook remover and I'm good for weeks worth of fishing!
