So I tested out The NuJig demo awhile back, and after getting feedback they came out with the NuJig pro, and to my delight went one step further and also attached a blade to some of them, chatterbait style. I am a big fan of chatterbaits, but it is hard to find a decent one that is weedless. Yes, I know chatterbait is one specific brand, and that they are technically all bladed swimming jigs. This is my review so I'm gonna call 'em all chatterbaits. I like swimming them just like everybody else, but I have also found that they are very effective when you pitch them into holes in weeds and jig 'em up and down. Of course, the problem with that is fouling on the weeds. Works though.

So I got an order of the crazy jigs and a couple of the pro jigs from Bo (thanks for the 10% off!) and gave 'em a try yesterday in Lake El Butto, sometimes known as the retention pond at the end of my street. The final results were pretty impressive: the Crazy jig outfished crankbaits 5:4 in roughly equal time, biggest fish around 2 lbs. No big ones on anything yesterday. Wind had torn loose some of the weed patches, but did pull a nice fat little one out of the weeds when flipping. Jig worked extremely well at slipping through holes without snagging. Additionally the blade engages very fast and easily, which is crucial to that. Liked the blade design in general. Also, I really like the high quality hook that NuTech has put on there.

Couple of minor points: for the way the nujig runs, I think 3/8 oz is too light for the chatterblade. I really had to force myself to slow down, and I hate slowing down. I have switched the blade to one of the 1/2 ouncers I ordered and will see how that works. Would like to see the jig offered up to a 5/8 oz. Other minor point is that I missed 3 fish. Now Bo did tell me that you have to give it to 'em for a second before teeing off, so there's that. The three that missed were all partially my fault as they were near surface strikes and I have long been prone to early hooksets when I see the fish 'cause I get too excited. Still, solidly hooked 5 and didn't lose a one once hooked.

To sum up:
Really well made product, high quality components, super fast delivery and great customer service. Product catches fish and meets a fairly unique need. Would like a wider range of sizes, maybe more variety of colors, occasional hookset issues possible. I strongly endorse this product.

i am also like you on the crazyjig. i use the 1/2oz size most of the time here on table rock because of the need to fish deeper. where weed growth gets very close to surface is where i see the 3/8 being a better choice.

Sure. I just think chatterbaits are a pure reaction bite, so the faster they move the less fish get to see before they have to commit. Plus I am a terrible speed addict. Fishing that is, not drugs. My favorite reel is my Revo 8:1.

Would you ever consider doing a punching jig in 1 oz size, made out of tungsten?

sometime in the future, we do plan on looking into tungsten, and yes we will eventually expand into bigger and smaller sizes. the 1/4oz will be here shortly. also, spinner baits are not too far off either.

Spinnerbaits huh? Interesting. If you need a product tester, let me know.
