Fish Zombie (Nate) and I trekked out to Twak yesterday morning. Got to Holiday Marina a little after 7am. Winds were howling and waves were thrashing upon arrival. Chatted with Jim Reed for a bit while we figured out our game plan...realizing our chances of getting on the water were slim.

This poor guy obviously had a rough morning.

After realizing our paddling day was done before it even began, we fished the shore a bit and just chatted with some guides that were headed home after cancelling their Sun appointments.

It was my first time to Twak and I'll for sure head back out there again soon. We did manage a few photos.

Yep...poor guy. The guys at the marina told us the boater was ignorant and wasn't listening. He was determined to get out on the water...Obviously didn't make it that far. Hear he was neck deep in the tide and was laboring WITHOUT a pfd. He made it to shore but not smart. Hope he had good insurance.

Man, the wind has been brutal all spring. Let me know next time you guys head to Twak, I've never been but really want to check it out. Glad you made the safe decision and stayed off the water. I just posted a thread about a guy who did the opposite and almost paid the ultimate price for it, check it out.

Now I don't feel so bad that I couldn't make it. WOW!!! That lake is crazy! Benbrook yesterday was nothing compared to that.

Great job on the report. I hate to see a boat swamped like that.
It makes me even more cautious to get new people out in kayak in the wind. I see newbie trying to get on the water all the time in conditions that I wouldn't even try. I think with kayaking we need to not only be aware of what the weather is doing currently, but what it will be doing after you get on the water.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
