Could someone give me some recomendations on a charter or guide to use out of galveston? There will be 4 of us and we are just looking at doing some oil rig fishing. I've done the big party boats but I would like to do a regual trip. Thanks for any input. Also is this a good time of year to go out?

Agree with chuck. I have been out with Cowboy Charters a few times. Capt Mike is very good and works hard to put you on fish. Always a fun trip with those guys. Also Reelthreel charters is good if Cowboy is booked. Reelthreel also has a lodge that you can rent and its right on the IC canal.

If you want to catch big fish I'd suggest Capt Keepers. I went out with my with my Dad in March (slow season) fishing for bull reds. We each caught a big red and a big black drum. My red was 40" with my Dad's 39". It was very slow fishing that time of year, but Capt Bob has a fantastic personality. (It was very windy and we were getting a cold front during that trip) We were supposed to go out 2 days earlier, but the winds were 25-35 mph and it was COLD. Capt Bob told us he would go out if we really wanted but preferred to take us another time. Luckily he had a client cancel for later that week. Our gain! http://kaptkeepers.com/index.html
