I saw where JD Lyle had posted that Texoma was on and decided to try it. The report was that artificials were not working, but I’m not good at catching shad so I decided to try it anyway. Thought I might get one and catch some smallmouth. I ended the day with 3 nice stripers including this 27 incher. Also caught 3 big crappie, Three largemouth in the 16 – 18” range, a nice smallmouth and a couple of sand bass. Overall, it was not bad for nice sunny afternoon throwing crank baits. I don’t know what’s gotten into those stripers at Texoma but they are full of beans right now. I caught every fish on crank baits and thought the striper were smallmouth by the way they fought. There was none of the usual one good run and give up. My wrist is still hurting from how hard the 27 incher fought me. It was right at dark and he pulled my small Sea Eagle pontoon boat back into the lake from the Eisenhower no wake area. It had me thinking “ what the heck am I hooked up with”. I thought I would lose him as he was on my “casting pole” with the 10 lb test line, and every time I got him close to the boat he would just dive for the bottom over and over.

Very nice...not sure it's beens they are full of ,but definitely full of sumthin Now keep in mind when I say the lure bite isn't good..that means its not good for me or the guys I fish with..good to me ,means I gotta load the boat with fish...I can always go out and catch some on lures anytime during the year, but right now not as many as I need to

JD: Where you are as sorry as I am at throwing a net, you have to fish with lures. If I could buy some live shad, I bet I would get some monster bites off those points. I see a lot of big fish on the humminbird and I bet it ain't all catfish.
Thanks again for your report. Had a great time at Texoma.

those are stripers on the shallow points...I will spend a lot of time free lining shad on shallow points and catching a bunch of stripers...did it yesterday and caught two large fish that wouldn't hit a top water plug...I understand about throwing nets..it ain't a lot of fun that's for sure..just keep plugging away and like I said you can always catch em on lures...try chunking top water plugs along those same points up real shallow from now thru June...you'll be pleasantly surprised what might happen

Stick it on a hook and toss it up along the rocks...I'll use weighted bobbers to be able to toss it a bit further

visited the lake yesterday and there were thousands and thousands of shad on the banks where I was. Managed to hook 5 with a sassy shad... shad that is. gave them a squeeze and all 5 were male, I dont know if the males go in to the shallows first like most fish do or not. didnt notice any spawning actually taking place, just cruising the bank in droves. Got one blow-up on a topwater and that was it for me. just a matter of time, or they hadn't found my spot yet.

I was out there yesterday 79 and the stripers were off. I caught one about 14 in. Caught a big stringer of smallmouth sandies and crappie. The wind changed from the south to the east and I was reminded of that verse from the bible:
Mark: 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Well, maybe that too dramatic, but the waves got real big coming back. My boat has no hull so I can't sink but I sure get wet. It was like riding one of those bucking machines on slow speed. I kept checking my boat seat, as I thought the thing might break on me. I'm going to check the wind in the future and if its from the east, no Texoma.
