I am having trouble doing this in a kayak. I can do it from a boat just fine but when I'm in a yak I'm to low. I just have a cheap pelican sit on top kayak and don't trust it enough to stand in it. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated

might try either a shorter or longer rod. to stand n flip/pitch in tha pelican, you might have to add stabilizers or just upgrade the yak unless your and acrobat or have super sea legs. try sitting on your tail in the yard and flip pitch with a shorter or longer rod. if it works there, it should work on the water too. you need to KNOW that you cant stand n fish in your Pelican. So where your life vest & give it a go. LOL!

it is a bit different in a yak. I went down to a 6'6" rod and it did help just a bit...wait intil you hook up with a beast and get the sleigh ride into the brush!!!

I dont have any problems. But im tall and have longer arms than most people. I've also perfected the art of the short cast. Im pretty dang accurate with it and can make it hit the water as silently as a pitch. Works great for me.

It can be done just takes a little more practice. You'll be fine.

I sit In my yak out in the yard and practice, I even use a slight swing / arc to help miss the side of the yak and It helps me to watch my bait all the way to target. The big plus to doing this at home in the front yard is now my neighbors avoid me
I've never been good, But I've been Lucky! I don't Lie or Exaggerate, but sometimes I remember BIG!

Use a spinning reel and dock shoot the lure. Very easy to do and accurate. Does not require a lot of motion, so no rocking your yak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuaJq5cgcew

adjust your tech so that you can doing this off to 1 side of the yak also. as said the more you practice the better youll be but if you have a short rod u can try a longer rod. if you have a longer (7 plus) rod u might try a shorter rod (6-6.5). here is a little more info on rod selection. http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/choosing-right-flippin-and-pitching-rodflip & pitch can be done with any rod but is easier with the right rod for you and the good tech. this guy has it down too & the video is more clear...
