I hear and read they are the same thing. my buddy says they are not that the pescador has a thinner hull.
What, if any, differences are between the two?

I think your buddy is wrong. As far as I understand it they come out of the same mold out of the same factory. The Pescador is just an older model than the new Tarpons.

The Tarpon has a much better seating system, Orbix hatches, Slidetrax rails on the front and rear, and is available in more color options.
If your budget is limited to $500, the Pescador is a great yak for the money, but if you plan on upgrading the seat and installing any significant amount of gear track to it, all of a sudden you are getting close to a Tarpon, price-wise.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

I'm not going to be fishing the bays or lakes mostly rivers with some smaller still waters so I'm not gonna have to rig it out with the latest and greatest just need a solid platform to get me on the water and where the fish live
