Good book. Not as good as Lone Survivor IMO, but very good.

I don't read at all. I might read one or two books a year. I finished his book in about a week. Read it not long after it came out, never would have thought then what was to come.

There is a huge difference in what seal snipers do and what army snipers do. Thank God we have them.

Lone Survivor, No Easy Day, and American Sniper are all great books.

Seal Snipers will go out with a squad, and they will give the other guys cover as they move from building to building or whatever that mission may be. They also may just set up camp (a good concealed area with great visibility of the area) and wait to pick off bad guys. An Army sniper is a two man unit a shooter and a spotter. They will go out with the intent to kill one or two guys. Many times they are dropped in behind the enemy lines and it may take them days to slowly (stealth) get into range of their target. These are the guys you think of that wear the ghillie suits. Now there are some Army snipers that will go out with a unit to provide cover, so not 100% are stalking their target for long periods of time. Many Army snipers are being used for calling in air support, where they will aim a laser on a target and the bomb will be dropped from 40,000' and hit whatever the laser it aimed at. Many are also used to help direct artillery fire. With the changed in technology the need for someone to sneak into range and wait for one target is becoming less and less. Both types of sniper are great weapons to have. Another big thing about having snipers is that it freaks out the enemy. If they are getting picked off one by one by a single shooter over a mile away they get very scared to walk around. It can really F with their heads.
