sorry if this has been discussed. I did a search and didn't find anything. Is it worth it to get down scan? I have read that you have to be moving to make it work. Seems like there isn't enough moving to justify it? Any thoughts or experience?

If you're motionless it will still show fish that swim under you. It's definitely worth having in my opinion. Finding all the structure on the bottom has turned my game on. Once you learn to recognize what everything looks like you'll be good to go.

I like it...lowrance elite 4 dsi combo.

At under 1 mph you start to get blurring as in screen shot above but can still tell whats going on. Bait getting hammered from below.

If you are moving what is the delay from what you pass over and what you see on screen? Like how do you know how far back what you are looking at is?

I really wanna get one for my yak but I have an hds7 on my boat that I can't figure out so doing wanna pay for something I don't know how to use properly.

I have a unit similar to Iconn4 unit. I like it alot. I find when I am not moving I really don't need it that often because I am on the location I want to fish based on what I saw when I was paddling by checking things out. I fish for whites and crappie. Very little blacks and catfish only when they happen to be where the whites are... Actually that seems to happen a lot in the summer

Don't know how much delay is but my feeling is it is pretty instant. When I am trolling I will hookup within feet of where I was when I saw the fish on the finder

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Like Oldtrackster said, almost instantly. I'm not sure there is any delay as that was the first thing I wanted to know too. I paddled back and forth by bridge pilings to see when they would appear on screen in relation to where I had transducer mounted.

Man I am slow. I have never thought of it, but that is right when checking out a bridge you can see the columns on the screen while you are still beside the columns.

Do the lowrance and HB both have 2d sonor on their basic di units also. Like the lowarance 4x dsi.

Just curious but was does everyone set their scroll speed to on a their yak? Considering most of the time you are sitting still or paddling slowly would you want a fast scroll speed or slower?

Slower, the Humminbird guru says your scroll speed should be about the same as your speed in mph. Mine is on a boat and that was the context when I asked the question. Not sure how Lowrance would translate..

As far as 2D and DSI on the same graph, I think the lower end ones are one or the other. ie- if you have DSI, you don't have 2D

Lowrance has the Trackback feature so if you saw something good you can rewind your sonar picture and drop a waypoint on it. Then it will show up on the charter plotter.
