I strictly bank fish, no access to boat. I'm looking to cast net for Gizzard Shad in my neck of the woods. Can someone please give me a spot to catch some gizzy shad? I live in Joshua which is very close to Cleburne, Burleson if that helps. Benbrook, Whitney, Nolan River, Granbury is all within easy driving distance but don't mind driving further if I have to. Thanks for any (exact) locations you can help with.

I caught a ton of shad at palo pinto this weekend. Mostly in the little creek near the camping area at the marina.

But they are starting to move back shallow on most area lakes I think. I found some on grapevine Saturday afternoon for the first time in a couple months, so it should be getting easier.

I almost hate to give away this info, but for a rival OT'r I will as a "no hard feelings" gift.
Byron Stewart park in cleburne, on the boat ramp side, at and around the boat ramp. The actual fishing has been terrible down there this year but for some reason the shad are really good.

I was netting gizzards up to four inches, in about 2' of water on Lewisville yesterday. The wind and algae covered rocks made it a bit of challenge, but it was good to see that they were in shallow water all day.
Plenty of shad, but no fish caught.....go figure.
edited: I'd look windswept shores over algae covered rocks and the rip rap at the end edges of boat ramps.

Theyre shallow. They were all around me yesterday in knee high water. Literally hundreds of them. All cutter size, not sure if they were gizards.

Jeesh..I didn't even know there was gizzard shad in there?!!? The fishing has indeed been very slow this year there btw. Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated!
