Hey guys what are you goals for the 2013 as far as fishing goes now that the weather is warming up and you guys will be getting out more?

For me I have a pretty long list. These are all rod and reel and mix fresh and salt water.

8' Alligator Gar
5' Long nose Gar
50# Or better Blue cat
50# Or better Flathead
10# Or better LMB
10# Or better Bowfin
30# Or better Carp
50# Or better SM Buffalo
43" Red Drum because my wife got a 42" last year and me a 41"
5' Or better shark in the surf
40# Or better Black Drum
And to add some new species from the surf as opportunity allows.

Will be interesting to see how many of these I can pull off considering my first kid is due to be here the first part of July.

So what have you guys got in mind? Post up and lets keep this updated as you cross them off. Good luck and tight lines everyone!

Beat PBs and fish more. I've already beaten my PB Carp, and I've been aiming for a new PB Buff. I'll be hitting Purtis Creek a few times this Summer looking for a new PB Grasser.

It'd be nice to get a few new species- Gar, Bowfin, Chain Pickerel, Smallmouth.

But with the new Carp PB (I had held it for 6 years), the year is already a success.

In a broad sense I want to break out the yak more, and use it more effectively. I've had the thing for over a year now and I haven't really tapped its true fish catching potential.

More specifically:

1) Gator gar over 100#
2) Blue cat over 30#
3) Common over 20#
4) Break PB Buff

But heck, I'll be happy as long as I'm catching something!

Here's mine in no order:

100# Alligator Gar
30# Blue Cat
30# Common
60# Smallmouth Buffalo
30# Grass Carp
10# Mirror
10# Largemouth Bass

First Koi
First Cobia
First Snapper
First Grouper
First Flathead
First Tarpon

Catch another Kingfish
Catch another Bull Red
Catch another Big Black Drum
Catch another 6' or better shark (any variety)

These are what I'd like to accomplish, but I'm not necessarily always out after one or the other.

I'm relocating to the Traverse City, Michigan area in about a week and a half, so my goals have changed a bit.

48" Lake Sturgeon
30# Lake Trout
30# brown trout
30# MI common carp
20# steelhead
King salmon
Coho salmon
Northern pike
Musky
Burbot

Then for May... smile

I think that's enough for 2013!

Been talking with the big guy upstairs and he says to quit slacking. The tumaters are on a mission this summer! We have to catch the largest reported fish of the year in Texas.Personal PB's are simply not enough. So far that would mean 40lb 5oz. Common,70lb Buff,60lb Grasser..Any of these 3 categories would be considered a success! The party starts in june. rockonGuys you have no idea how high a tumater can fly.

Caribou - you need to come down or up to Austin and fish a Sunday with the ACA guys. We will get you at least the 20lb common smile

My goals are not PB's for me (hard to break most of them even in Austin).

I would like to see:-
1. More PB's for the rest of the ACA guys.
2. Definitely a new PB common and buffalo for Kristi, maybe even a grasser too
3. More people fishing the WCC monthly events
4. A new carp fishing tournament in Austin - working on this already
5. Catch carp from some of the new swims I have been working at on Ladybird

Haven't fished "seriously" in a few years, it's good to be back at it. My 2013 goals are any fish 3 digits+. Since I'm fishing with Dawson soon, that might just happen sooner than expected. wink
