fished late around 3 pm and started my journey. crappie are beginning to move back to the lake from the creeks and depths and are moving shallower for the spawn.
Water was 59 degrees when i went and crappie will spawn around 62 degrees with males and then females follow in as well later in the days.
i have caught my crappie around standing timber from 15ft-22ft of water. minnows and jigs have been producing. (make sure you fish slow). theres crappie on the docks and very few in the pilons.
i used 4lb test for extra challenge and fun.
1/16 splitshot to 1/8 splitshot, same weight for the jig heads.
6ft6-9ft rods medium to light action.
i dropped the minnows down there and once it hit the bottom i crank 1-3 times and let it sit, with short jigging motion to entice them. reaction strike is what the crappie are doing.
work that water column. a slightest temp change can alter the fish feeding.
jigs are basically the same. dead sticking with short jigging .
The results will look like this
