First, I'd like to give a big thanks to the RHSA for taking me in. Im sure I may have figured this game out eventually, but not on such a short timeline. Thank you especially to Fishboyfrank, CoachZ, Superduck, Seafox Steve, Championfish, and many more that I've spoken with and gained insight on the fishery from. Im thankful to share the same piece of water with such ambassadors of the sport. You guys rock! Now, on to the fishing! We hit the lake about 4pm and fished until dark. Very slow for the first 2 hours or so, but ended up getting hot and heavy in the last hour before sunset. Found fish in 20-22FOW just off a creek bed. The pic should tell you the rest! Surface Temp 63 degrees (is my temp sensor off, or was anyone else reading the same?). Winds N/NE light and variable, sunny. We caught and released 25 or so whites/yellows and my first TX hybrid!

Way to get em going_green!! Yeah great group of guys here on the tff, and I have only been on since the beginning of the year. I'm slowly meeting the guys while out while fishing and all have been more than willing to lend out some good free advice.
I think your temp is off...I haven't had any temps tip over 60 yet this year.

Great fish! You have what's probably the youngest class of hybrid in the lake. Since they haven't stocked since 2011, those are about the youngest ones in there. Kinda sad that we've at least missed two years of stockings. They're getting harder and harder to find. Waaaay to go

It was pretty warm today and if you are the shallow areas, that temp may be right. The temp is a few degrees lower at the deeper areas. The state did not stocked RH in 2010 and 2012. Just more incentives for us make RHSA bigger and stronger!

Thanks a lot guys! I hope I'll run into yall out there soon! I usually fish a couple times a week so hopefully we'll run into one another. I'm they guy in the ugly duck boat! Nice work out there going_green! to the hybrid catching fever!! Thanks Terry, great to meet you at the breakfast! Hahaha I'll never forget you asking me: "Too much?" while you were playing auctioneer in your gitup. I didnt realize I was sitting there, jaw dropped, at what I was witnessing! By the way, the answer is its never too much! Great fish! You have what's probably the youngest class of hybrid in the lake. Since they haven't stocked since 2011, those are about the youngest ones in there. Kinda sad that we've at least missed two years of stockings. They're getting harder and harder to find. Waaaay to go Thats great to know! Well, not great to know that they havent stocked the lake in a while, but that this was a young, healthy, fish. Cant wait to see what the elders feel like! This fish was released to fight another day. It was pretty warm today and if you are the shallow areas, that temp may be right. The temp is a few degrees lower at the deeper areas. The state did not stocked RH in 2010 and 2012. Just more incentives for us make RHSA bigger and stronger! I took that reading just after coming out of harbor bay so it may have adjusted, I was probably just too busy looking for/catching fish to pay attention! Im just a freshman to RHSA, but Im eager to help and get involved. I made sure to bring a friend to the breakfast that I knew would appreciate the purpose and goal.

Just saw your post. That's one of many more hybrids to go! I can't think of of another freshwater fish that fights like a hybrid. Do yourself a favor and get a rubber net. Lot easier to get those bigger hybrids in and your treble hooks don't get hung up. I've always said those hybrids are like a striper on steroids. I have never gotten sick of catching them that's for sure. There's other fish in Hubbard but nothing like the hybrid. Soak up everyone's advice and you are well on your way. I have some more tricks up my sleeve (everyone else probably does too I'm sure!) and will share more as the season moves along. Happy Fishing.....
