Looking at buying a new boat soon. For sure wanting a hydraulic plate due to the water I fish and trying to get on plane in 1' of water quite often. Question is what is the difference in the Bobs plate and the Atlas. I see the Bobs 8" comes with everything needed for $970 and the Atlas 8" is like $1300. Is the Atlas that much better seriously?

Whats the reason for going 8in. I would think the 6in would benifit hole shot performance because you would`nt be moving the CG as far back. 1ft of water, sounds like you need a tunnel hull. I have put several Bobs and CMC hyd jack plates on with out any problems. Never installed an Atlas.

Because an 8" manual comes standard on the boat I'm looking at and a tunnel hull isn't made on bass boats. I've owned a tunnel hull bay boat before and never will again. Seems a tunnel hull cut down on ride quality drastically to me. I have zero clue in the performance difference in a 6" and 8". I have ran 8" and even a 12" on a Stroker before. But I see your idea on the CG thing.

I was thinking salt water because theirs not many times I see people wanting to get on plane in 1ft water but I hear it a lot on salt water. Guy was telling me about the turning while throttling up to get on plane in skinny water.
