Very little. Canyon does have some flooded timber. I live near the lake and that's is what I look for. There's usually fish nearby

no, nononononnononononononono why the hell would you even suggest this? any mods care to delete, this post? i dont care if its just a joke, its really not funny, some idiot might be dumb enough to take this seriously, i honestly think introducing hydrilla and such purposefully should be at least 5 years hard prison time, ecosystems never recover from it.

There is allot of skunk weed in several places all over the lake. Sometimes they will be thick in that stuff, sometimes they wont but I always fish it and can catch a couple out of it.

2 years ago there was an explosion of coontail every where on that lake, and it always held fish. I've seen a few patches of it here and there, but nothing like it was.

If we ever get enough rain to keep Canyon at a somewhat steady level you will always find patches of weeds or grasses that the ducks transplant, but Canyon has a lot of solid rock shorelines so now would be a good time to scout the bare shorelines while the water is down and find likely areas which would usually be in the upper reaches of some of the bigger creeks and coves.

Just one more cast!

Just past the old Cranes Mill Marina where it gets shallow, is grass and sticks. A rare find for this lake. 3 bass 1 week ago today I was bank fishing using a small crank bait.

You ever fished a lake with grass in it? You ever been to Amistad, Choke (when it actually had grass and fish), Falcon? Grass makes a healthy ecosystem for all fish species. Will it overtake a shallow lake? Heck yes but Canyon isn't that. It'd actually be a great candidate for grass. But I'm sure everybody in Texas knows its illegal to transplant it.

hydrilla isnt like most grass, it detaches and floats down and spreads like underwater wildfire, if hydrilla found its way into canyon then the trout population below the dam would cease to exist within 2 years not to mention anywhere on the guad that is free of hydrilla would become infested, you have to look at the greater effects on ecosystems. Im actually majoring in aquatic bio and its shocking how delicate ecosystems really are. Honestly, it would take one small mistake in ecosystem management to decimate populations of gamefish in lakes. i could keep on this list for awhile but some examples would be the cali redfish destroying crappie and for the most part bass populations, blue cats slowly trimming the granger crappie population.

Add me to the list in favor of ADDING it to Canyon lake. There is almost ZERO vegetation in this lake.
