Guys
I have a 95 Merc 200 EFI and my starter appears to be pulling to much current. When I attempt to crank my motor it turns over real slow and "sometimes" cranks. Once I try to start the boat once, engaging the ignition for 15-20 seconds it drains my battery. I got my starter rebuilt and put a new battery on and nothing changed. I checked/cleaned all of the electrical connections at my battery and at the starter and solenoid.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a battery issue if it drains that quickly have you had the new battery tested yet?

go back and recheck all connections for tight, even one a little loose will cause it to pull huge amperage.

Have you had the amp draw checked? Also what is the voltage drop at the starter and at the battery. Check all your fuses also. May have one burned but not blown. You need to check the draw at the solinoid, if it has one to see if its going bad.

Sounds like you may have a bad ground to the starter. Jump to the - of the battery with booster cables to the ground of the starter and see if it changes.
