I've done this using tools from my carp fishing goodies. Just google "large carp bait needle" and you'll find similar made up tools. But I do like the do it yourself vid, good job!

Looks like an easy way to stab yourself when it's cold outside. Think ill stick to hooking fish the normal way and leave the gadgets to you guys.

Thanks Allan, I try to keep them interesting. Now that I'm retired it gives me a good hobby. Had ankle surgery last week and it's especially good to be able to follow up on comments. I want to be ready for the Spring bite.

Pretty cool, i rarely fish whole fish but now i see what can get me a better hookup ratio when i do use whole fish. Im assuming that a braided leader is better than mono for this, my concern is when you use the hacksaw into the hanger to make a cut for your loop to run thru will it nick your line or is there not enough pressure for that to happen? Nice video and thanks for sharing.

Shouldn't be enough pressure to nick mono line. It pulls through pretty easy. I use 30# mono or fluorocarbon and similar strength braid. It all works ok with the tool.
