I enjoy fishing village creek, the creek holds fish and wildlife year round. It is shrinking fast with the housing development in the past few years. The past few years of drought didn't help but did make it fun finding fish and just trying to get to them dragging yaks. The beavers will give you heck at night slaping the water inside of your paddle stroke, if you're not ready for them you may have to change your underpants LOL! The mink are very brave and they will get close to check you out, in fact the mink population boomed in the past few years on lake Arlington, they are quick to help themselves to the bait bucket at the boat ramps late at night. Lots of snakes so watch overhanging branches. Several folks put in at the I-20 underpass and park on the side of the road. I don't recommend leaving the truck IMO, not the best of folks hanging around at times.

Big Redneck, have you ever paddled all the way to the water inlet by Everman Kenedale Rd by chance? Maybe when the creek had more water in it? If so how long did it take you?

I've had the wife drop me off at the inlet and paddled to I-20. It is a fishing day event with a lot of dragging even at normal level, and sometimes huge logs jams that can be a real bear to pass if passable due to high banks in some areas. I've come across some real nice holes that held some nice fish. Since they pump water often it keeps the water from turning and the fish happy. The white bass go all the way to the inlet and even farther if it rains at the right time. I've made that trip a dozen times and half of it at night once. I don't plan on doing the whole creek anytime soon again. It's too hard on the bottom of the yak, and walking it is a no no due to private property. Coming from the north I will go pass the railroad trussle but not far pass that.

It isn't that far to paddle from Bowman SPrings ramp. When the water is up good I like to put in down at Shelby Rd and paddle up to the lake.
