Is Sunline worth the money? Is the Shooter really as strong as they say?
I like Seaguar Red Label, but if the Shooter is really that strong, I may try some 7lb. test for drop shotting.

I tried some sunline reaction 12lb last time I was out, broke off on a big one. In all fairness she did try and wrap a tree but she came out and I got to see her jump before the line snapped. When I reeled up what was left the line had some good nicks in it. (and yes I check my line religiously) I use red label and have never had that happen while using it. I for one will stick with red label, just my 2 cents

I say at the higher tests sunline is the best there. I know inizx gets alot of love here and rightfully so but it comes with a serious amount of stretch.
Shooter costs some serious coin but the 25lb test has the same diameter as many companies 17-20lb so you can upsize your test. It is manageable but stiff as high pd line is. The reaction Fc is basically sunlines answer to invizx IMO. It is fluoro with stretch for moving baits.
At lighter weights I cannot vouch but I am sure it would be a coil problem. That's why many guys use sniper for spinning reels but shooter for flippin etc...
I was lucky enough to get a 660 yard spool (240 bucks worth of line) for 80 bucks. Great deal for top of the line (pun intended) fluoro...

I used to use Sunline, but now 100% Seaguar. Invizx is the best for casting in my opinion. Tackle Warehouse has a 20% discount during their Christmas sale. That is the time I stock up for spring and summer season.

yes, Sunline Shooter is awesome, I have learned the hard way to never half "A" anything. Never had any problems with any of their lines. Definately worth the extra money,

I for one will stick with red label, just my 2 cents 2 things, 1. Always check diameters. There is no standard rating for line strength in the United States. Manufacturers can pick any rating they choose when packaging line for sale here. Many choose to underrate their line. Sunline doesn't. In your situation, you chose to compare Red Label at .310 to Sunline Reaction at .285. Would you have been comfortable throwing 10# Red Label around those trees? Best way I've heard it put is this. "If I could give you a 3-5 lbs more tensile strength in the same diameter as you're using now would you buy it? " That's Sunline. 2. And more important. Choose the right line for the application. Reaction is designed specifically for reaction baits. Soft, limp and with a bit of built in stretch for reaction baits. But with inherently less abrasion resistance. Sniper or Shooter would have been much better choices in your conditions. Not singling you out. Just using your story to emphasize the difference in perception.

Share the love on how u got that deal eBay is a beautiful thing. You have to constantly be checking on general searches like 25lb fluoro etc...shooter doesn't come in 660 yard spools but IS given to pro staff meaning that somebody is selling off excess line. The guy just happened to put it up at a low as hell price. Another guy on eBay sells bulk used lures from pro's and he had a bulk sunline lot which had over 600 bucks worth of line that I got for 120...gave me all the high end fluoro I need for the whole season and top of the line

Thanks guys. I never thought about line diameter in terms of strength. I always use line diameter to determine if the line will work on my fairy sticks, but it makes sense that the rating of the line isn't the best piece of data to use to determine actual strength.
I believe I will give Sunline Shooter a shot, but I am definately going to start to pay attention to line diameter.

I started using FC sniper this summer and it has really changed my fishing. I feel much more comfortable laying the cork to a fish flipping with sniper than I used to with invis-x. I still use invis-x for traps and crankbaits tho.

No offense taken whatsoever, I didn't think to consider the diameter at all, learn something new everyday I actually won that line in a contest off a website and decided I'd try it out deep cranking. I've been pretty happy with red label as I just fun fish an its good line at a lower cost. If I were to fish for money I'd definitely invest in some higher end line. This thread actually has me wanting to try some shooter.
