No trip to Cedar Creek Lake and day with Captain Chuck Rollins would be complete if we didn't meet at the Huddle House in Gun Barrel City.

Now, they call it the Southern Smothered Biscuit Platter...but we just call it Death by Breakfast!

Somewhere in that "Pile-O-Food" is an open faced biscuit, two sausage patties, golden hash browns, sausage gravy, two eggs, cheese and of course hot sauce.

...you can modify your meat and egg selections...but either way...you ain't headin' out for day of slabbin' with an empty stomach (we're gonna need a bigger boat)!

Chuck is great company and the huddle place is a great place to eat for sure!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

MacCains on the other end of town isn't bad, either.

Man that looks good. I would substitute a chicken fried steak for the sausage patties and call it death by supper. That way I'd die in my sleep and never know that I should have had it for breakfast.

Here's another version of this which is pretty good but not as toxic. Wheat bread toast instead of biscuits, ham instead of sausage, gravy with 2% milk, and no cheese. It is not as good as the original but instead of "Death by Breakfast", it's more like "Angina by Noon".

Oh noooooo....

Let's really mess it up:

Rice cakes and veggie patties...smothered with sprouts, egg whites and topped with low fat yogurt.

...and mint tea on the side.

Ok...I'll turn in my man-card for even going there.

Now that's enough to gag a maggot.

Stopped at a Huddle house yesterday for the first time after reading this post.
Didn't have what is pictured but was very impressed by their breakfast.
Will stop again for sure!

Steve:

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

On a sadder note: I was at a Super Bowl Party last night and found out that another Cedar Creek eatery had bit the dust.

Chuck Rollins and I used to pull up to Cedar Isle for a burger and beer when the crappie were wearin' us out...but the place burned down.

Dang!
