I may be wrong but I think sonar is basic on most new units--
Are you looking at new units?

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Narrow it down. Which unit are you referring to?

I was looking at the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI GPS and found out it does not have regular sonar so I was wonder what tells me that a unit does or does not have regular sonar.

Hummingbird has a 597 with 2-D and DI. I have a 1198 Bird and very seldom use DI. Mostly 2-D and SI.

The one I listed only has Down Imaging and Side Imaging, not the 2d or tradional type sonar, so do many others. I just wondered what wording tells me as I don't see 2d used much.

I think the Elite 5 DSI is only Down Scan Imaging and GPS, no side imaging and no traditional 2-D.

Down imaging is great for getting bait, but I really like the 2D better for finding fish in deeper water!

X2. DI is not that important. 2D and chartplotter are the most important. SI is the next most important and DI comes in last. My unit is the 898. Wish I had that 1198.
