Is fishing allowed in Mccinish Park itself? The large pond on the left and the smaller marsh on the right look like some decent cover for LMB. I'd like to give it a shot and see but I'd prefer my question be answered here rather than in cuffs! Thanks in advance.

I have never seen anyone fish in either of those ponds. The large one on the left is where the model boats race, etc. Call the Carrollton Parks Dept before going.

Yea, I plan to do that monday morning, but since I noticed them yesterday evening the offices have been closed. I wanted to fish pre front this weekend, but oh well. On to the next hole for now.

You can go anytime no need to call office. Bass, sunfish and catfish are what you shall find there.

I used to kayak fish the larger one when I lived in Coppell. there are a decent amount of LMB in the lake. We did best with wave worms, lizards, etc. There is a ton of moss in the lake during the summer months so spinner baits were hard to fish. If you have something to float in then I would recommend the side of the lake that is inaccessible by foot. we always did better on that side for one reason or another. don't jack with the tiny one when you drive into the park. it dried up two years ago and I would assume it does that frequently.

I don't have a picture...I know I am worthless, BUT I have seen a small gator in the lake. This was two years ago during the middle of summer. Ive caught a few of them and had my hands on enough to know what they look like. This one was about three feet long and I watched it for about five min on that opposite bank we fished a lot. There is a small cove on that side. if you look at Google maps it was the one closest to the solid waste dept office.

Also if your a yakker, go on the other side of sandy lake (north) where the soccer park is. the trinity is right there. You can put your Yak in there and go upriver for miles. there is a split about a mile upstream that you go left at. This is where another small creek meets it. Right at that Spot there is a giant tree in the water that holds crappie. go up the small creek about three hundred yards and then you will see where another meets it on the right. take that and it leads you to a ten-twelve acre lake that is completely inaccessible by foot. Take a look at google maps before you go..

I hope some of that information was helpful... good luck to you and anyone else fishing there.

The creek you take off of the Trinity is Denton creek out of Grapevine. Be careful taking a bass buster up in there because I've seen them start letting water out of Grapevine and then you'll have current to fight to get out of the lakes and then it pushing you out into the Trinity.
