Thinking about buying a Nitro Savage 896 dual console with a 200 hp mercury nitro series. The boat is in great shape for the year. It's a 1996. Anyone have an idea what its worth? I know nada does a used value but lots of time that may not be what people are paying or willing to pay. HELP

What's it worth to you? Alot of factors can have dramatic changes on what a boats worth to someone. Electronics, cosmetic appearance (carpet, gelcoat, etc.), trolling motor, condition of outboard, condition of trailer and tires, just to name a few.

Lets say it's in "good condition", has basic electronics, trailer isn't rusted out, and the motor checks out fine. I'd say 8500.00 TOPS. Take the same boat but ad High-end electronics, a newer trolling motor, fresh batteries and new tires, and it could be worth more.

Also note Nitro's re-sale value. (Just making a point, don't turn this into a bashing nitro thread.) A Ranger of the same year/condition will draw a few thousand more, Take that into consideration as well.

Basic rule of thumb when buying a used boat, Get it checked out by a mechanic, and test drive it before handing over cash. Good Luck!

Whats he asking? Boat is dirty-dusty and only 3 bad pics to look at. First thing I see is a clean lower unit on the motor, but trailer damage on the right side where the light should be.

I would think $6500-$8000 would be about right.. Anything less would be a fine deal.

how can you be thinking about buying a boat without a price..??

don't know the details , but its a out of state boat..
BE SURE the title is in the hand of the boat 'owner' or you are asking for a headache..

$5K-6.5K. Lots of boats out there and lots of deals this time of year. It's a Nitro, it's 16 years old, and it is not a mint condition, over the top boat with a lot of upgrading. JMO.

As I recall you were confident Basscat was best in market. Therefore if you now believe this Nitro will fit your fishing needs, then hydraslide 14 makes a great point for you to consider and that is...what's it worth to you??? at the end that's what matters most.

Boats at this price range are nice finds because they don't require a lot of investment but they still need to be a fit. Good fishing to ya!

If you had you heart set on a BassCat then you will not be happy with a Nitro from this era. At the risk of being slammed this era Nitro did not have very good "fit and finish". They just did not pay attention to the details. They had lower grade carpet, latches, hinges wiring, ect.

The new Nitro's are a different story.

Like someone said what's it worth to you?

More than 5K is too much--that's assuming everything works.

Agree with others who have said the $6k to $7k range. But you can tell almost nothing from those pictures. Plus or minus a couple thousand depending on the details.
