Do you remember about when you caught the one in Nasworthy? Decade maybe? That's far upstream.

I caught one in the trinity below Lewisville lake back in the 70’s. That’s the last time I’ve even saw one.

I've caught plenty of them below the dam on Lake Texoma.

Caught one behind the dam at Navarro Mills lake years ago. Gate were open and I was fishing for catfish using worms with a heavy weight on the bottom. A man said he wanted it as it was good to eat. so I took my knife and cut the leader off below the weight. He went back to his fishing spot with the thing squirming from the line. Looked like a snake with fins on the back end, I wanted no part of the thing

Caught one behind the Granger Lake dam on the San Gabriel. Have heard old timers from the 20's-40's say they were fairly common.

Many years ago one of our neighbor’s stock tank was full of them. I remember catching one every now and then as kid fishing for bream. I was afraid to touch them and would cut the line and tie on a new hook.

Hopefully for his aquarium rather than his dinner plate. Absolutely one of the best eats you will experience. The meat is snow white, sweet and flaky.

I've caught plenty of them below the dam on Lake Texoma. Recently? I might have to give it a go there. Would love to catch one

We caught them on the Red River on throw lines. The first one I ever saw I was netting. That sucker sewed that net up and it took me ten minutes to get it out. Never netted another !

I caught a lamprey eel out west in the Sacramento River once. Thing was so ugly i cut the line and let it go. Funny thing is they are the best bait for sturgeon but I wouldn’t even touch a dead one that had been frozen. Just slimy snakes as far as I am concerned. https://i.imgur.com/mg47MGJ.jpg

I have never caught one in Texas but they are definitely in southern freshwater lakes. I saw a guy pull up a fish trap on Lake Moultrie in South Carolina. It was jammed full of catfish and eel. This was probably 45 years ago or more.
