I went to Academy on the Dallas North Tollway Sunday. They had Cherrywood rods marked down to $14 but when I got to the register they were $10.97, if any one wants to pick up a couple they had plenty.

They are hard to beat for a cheap crankbait rod. For under $11, you can afford to have a bunch of extras laying around in case you break one.

The best crankbait rod that there is for the money. It should not be used as a flipping stick though.

I broke 3 cherrywoods before I finally wised up and stopped buying
them. They are cost effective until you figure in the gas it takes
to keep driving to Acadamy for replacements. Quantum xtra lites
Are only a few bucks more and are much better rods in my opinion.

Buy a few of them....strip the eyes off them....use whats left as whoopin' sticks. you cant get eyes that nice, that cheap, if you build your own.

They break, but I have some I have had for many years. I like the metal guide inserts from Berkley rods. I like the lightning rods if I can find them in fast action. I dont know what the action of the cherrywoods are.
LR70IMHC is a fast action lightning in medium heavy power.

I've always wondered if these would make good crankbait rods.

$10 is $10. Good rod for $10.

I love the cherry woods although I’ve moved on. if they had guides that would handle braid I would still use em

The 5'6" Lights are great for pan fish, the longer rods I would stay away from.

I like the 6'6" med great for 10 bucks and a shallow crankin rod. I've only broke the 7' m the tips always break but never had any problems with the 6'6".

Lightning Rods. One of the best values made for a rod back in the 1999-2000 range when they had the EVA butts and Foregrip on them.

I used them for everything when no one was looking. I had several left I used for Specs and Reds when the fire in the shop got them. I hated that because the new ones are just not the same.
