I don't know how many of ya'll actually use this rig, but I had a question about it. Under the float do you normally put a split shot as well as a jig or would you just put the jig. Also when rigging regular with a jig do you like to use a split shot above it. Thanks for the info.

I don't normally use a split shot above a jig by it's self but it helps keep the eye of your hook from sticking in the tube of a slip float. Even then I don't always use one. I want the jig to act as naturally as possible and I think a split shot hurts the action.

When i am using a 1/16 or 1/8 jig no splitshot, when i move to 1/64 or smaller, i use a small split shot about 12 -15 " above the jig.

Using 20 lb Suffix braid as mainline, I start with bobber stop, small bead, slip float, small bead, then barrel swivel. Tie on 6 lb mono for about an 18" leader, then jig - no split shot. If (when) I have to break off a jig, I won't lose the whole rig.

What he said, but i use 8lb main with a 4 lb breakaway
