I don't work on spinning reels right now, but I do order parts from Shimano. This part is not on the parts list I have available right now but I can call tomoro and check on it. I have pulled a few schematics and the only Stradic mgfb schematics I can locate are for model ST-1000, ST-2500, and ST-3000. The drive gear for the 1000 is part number Rd11408, and for the other two models the drive gear is RD 11416. If you have any other model number or info on thereelremedy please give it to me and I will let you know what Shimano has for it.

There may also be a number on the footplate that would be helpful

I checked on these parts. The rd6494 has been discontinued with no replacement. The rd11408 has been replaced by rd14405 and the price is $20.48. The rd11416 has been replaced by rd14481 and the cost is 27.40. These prices are before tax and Shipping. If you can look at the schematics for the models I mentioned above you may be able to figure out which model you have, or if you can find any model number or footplate numbers I can cal shimano back an see if they can help.
Hope this helps.

Here is the problem most reel companies after five years discontinue their parts. The only exception is the abu Swedish made reel and pen reels. The other option is to check with south west in Dallas or coastal tackle' he post here. The other thing is to buy a parts reel on ebay.
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

Stradic mgfb Drive gear.....or a substitute. Did you ever end up finding a suitable replacement for RD 6494 drive gear? Thanks! Mike
