Hi hooklinesinker:
I also have a kayak. I've been meaning to fishi these areas in the Las Colinas area:
1) Lake Carolyn- Irving lake, need fishing license, lots of lack bass, yellow bass, crappie, cats, etc. Location: Lake runs paralelle to Hwy 114. Exit O'CONNER road and turn right if you are headed towards DFW airport. Follow O'CONNER road a couple of blocks and you will cross over it.
2) Elm Fork Trinity River- need fishing license. Find information about small ponds in Irving called CAMPION TRAILS, etc. on the city of Irving webpage. You will see a map of these small ponds that run right next to OConner road from Lake Carolyn to I635. On the maps, you will also see the TRINITY RIVER LOCATION--it runs along Campion Trails. You can fish any of the small ponds unless a no tresspassing sign is up. And the TR. I called everyone in the book about fishing these areas and they said it's OK with a fishing license and "good luck"! PS-- just DO NOT EAT the fish out of the TRINITY RIVER b/c they are contaminated with trace amount of something ( I forgot exactly what it is).
3) Try below the Lewisville dam- there is a tailrace that Kayak /canoe clubs use. I don't know the exact name but you can find info on these websites Dallas Downriver Club, Texas kayak fishing club, or texas river runners. The REI store, and a canoe rental place in Farmers Branch (look up in the phone book) can teel you about it as well. It's suppose to be a very nice place with a nice trail running next to it. I believe you can put in here: Go north on I-35, exit Garden Ridge then turn right, follow the road and see cars parked by the water. Just double check on this information and you will do just fine.
Hope this information helps!! Like I said, check out the wesites and you will find BOO-KOOS of neat places to kayak in DFW area.
Happy Kayaking!! Maggie Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help. [/QUOTE]

Bass'nAggie - Thanks for the information. I will try those out in the near future and post any results. Once again, thank you.

Well I have fished at Loy Lake and Lavon so far. Both really enjoyable. Especially Loy as I actually caught and released a bunch of fish.

Sorry for long delay. I had a small system crash. Loy is in Dennison right off 75. Can't really fish it all without a Kayak or floatation of some kind.
