i have a friend that has a boat slip on gvine, and him and his dad invited me out for some fishing.. ive never really fished for crappie so i figured it was time to learn. his dad was a great teacher.. didnt catch many big ones.. but i wasnt there for a long time(45 min or so).. i can see how you guys love crappie fishing though. just thought you guys would like to know i will definitely be heading to academy to pick up a few things to target crappie!!

Be very careful Mr Intensity, the thump is way more addictive than drugs or alcohol! It's been known to cause divorce and can creat new habits like trips to boat dealers and Bass Pro Shops. It can be extremely expensive, especially when you first feel the thump, buying fishing equipment that is only a stop gap until you learn more and decide what you have isn't good enough. Your garage and even your house will fill up with so many different jigs, hooks, spools of line, filet knives and god only knows where it stops. Your reading will evolve into nothing but, fishing magizines and all your time will be spend on this web site or on the water, in search of the elusive crappie. Your friends will all desert you and think you've gone over to the dark side, where you will be with others of the same ilk! Don't say you haven't been warned! I know, I have the disease and don't even think about quitting till I at least catch a new world record! May the force be with you! PS: and welcome to our world!

Hahaha, yall are right. I've almost been returned to the boat ramp on more that one occasion during bass tournaments because we 'happened' to run across a brushpile stacked with crappie. I guess it's the same as not being able to stand watching doves at my backyard bird feeder during September.

I have been bit by the crappie disease lately. I mainly catfishes until a few weeks ago. Went out with my uncle in law and he showed me a few tricks and man I have been hooked ever since. My last outing took care of my crappie and catfish addiction in one nite.

I guess it's the same as not being able to stand watching doves at my backyard bird feeder during September. For the doves, a pellet gun works nice and the neighbors won't notice. Love dove wrapped with bacon, onion, and jalapeno. Crappie make the best fish tacos and any other way you can to think to fix them you just can't go wrong.
