I have a 1996 Mariner Magnum 200 EFI. The problem is the water pressure guage is surging from 5 - 15 psi, it is peeing and not over heating.I made sure the copper tube was in place when I replaced the impeller. What would cause this problem?

Posibly one or more of the vains on the impeller are pointing the wrong way.
Check t-stats and that motor probably has popets.

My 150 merc does that when I put a new impeller in it but it only does it at idle. It has always done this even when the dealer did the first one. It is only at idle.

Mine is a 1997 it's just the impeller sealing too good it will stop after a few runs on the lake and it breaks in.

It is the poppet assembly. It is their to force water to the top of the block. On the starboard side low, just below the power packs. Put you motors model # here: http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/us/index.html/
