I called fly shop they said hatch was going on fishing was great. Just got some new gear in going to see what I can do. Anyone else going up Friday.

Well had a buddy ride with me and he had to be back early. Fishing was slow but I got a 12 inch brown, and my biggest fish yet a 22" rainbow. It was awesome the way it fought. I saw it take a look at my tan caddis and I could tell it was a big fish. Then It took. And the fight was on. Fishing was slow because of low temps but about 1pm the caddis went crazy. Fun day on the river.

Sounds like a good time. A 22" rainbow is a great fish anywhere. There are some fantastic fish up there for sure.

Hope I can make it up there sometime soon.

a tan caddis huh, and i thought the only fly that could catch fish up there was a near deere

I know this post without pictures is pointless but I can't post from my phone and I'm one of the few people that doesn't have internet at home. I don't even have cable. I enjoy the outdoors to much to sacrifice my time to the television.

where did you catch the 22''?

Evening hole. There's a big log in water just down stream from the last set of riffles and there is a hole on the bottom I saw about ten +20" fish holding in. First cast and hooked up.
Fish was returned with no harm done. I still can't convince my brother why I release all my fish. Some people will never understand.

Jig fly. Catches fish. Why complain? Some of you guys are 100% Purists..... lighten up a bit.

It's a hook, feathers fur and tinsel. ='s fly. Last I heard that's the definition of a fly.

Thanks though. Every time you purist fly fishing freaks say it's a jig, or it's a fly, all you do is just amp up the hits and posts to the thread, therefore, people look at the thread first. All your doing is increasing my sales.. Like today. Two orders due to this post. It catches more fish than any other fly on the river and it's proven.

Let me ask you this Mr Purist Bass Bug, if I was to make the same thing, but with a bead head instead of lead head , would that mean it's a fly in the Purist world?

I personally don't see what the fuss is about. It is in essence the same as any Wolly Booger fly, only the near deere sits better in the water. In fact, my personal best on the LMF was caught on one.

Apparently I am the only one here who takes seriously the traditions of this sport. Fly Fishing origins begin in Europe and the dry fly is the only sporting method to take trout (which should always be released immediately, if not sooner) .. I hold any method other than the dry fly or classic salmon fly in contempt and those practitioners may as well be bowling or some other skilled game for they are not sportsmen & I will stake my Irishe Tweed Cap and bamboo Rods on that.
