Working on boat today and when I cranked it using the idler boat would rev up fine. When I pushed idler back down the rpms did not drop and stayed the same. I pulled the cable off and it moved fine. Any idea's ?

There are parts inside the control box that wear and cause the cable not to be pushed or pulled back to Idle. Will depend on how old the control is,on weather the parts will still be avalible from dealer. Cary
