My brother and I snuck away on Monday and Tuesday to fish Falcon with Jay Greishaw, and neither disappointed. Jay stopped by our room on Sunday night and he was very upfront that the prior couple of days had been slower by Falcon standards. We had a decent weather forecast following last Fridays front so we hoped they would chew.

Day 1 Monday

Our first stop was on a secondary point. We probed the 20 ft drop with c-rigs and jigs with nothing to show for it. After about 45 minutes I picked up a 6XD in chart sexy shad and immediately caught a small one. We eventually moved up to the 8-10 ft drop and hit the jackpot. Im not sure exactly how many we caught but it was a fish on practically every cast for close to an hour, and nothing smaller than 5 lbs. When the dust finally settled I had my first individual forty lb bag (41 lbs) topped by a 10-01, all on the crankbait. My brother caught several nice ones out of the school but it was definitely my day to shine. Jay was too busy with the net to fish any himself. We caught plenty more fish the rest of the day on a variety of baits - crank, c-rig, football jig ending up with a 43 lb bag for the boat.

My 10-01

My brother typically gets the best of me and I told Jay that he wouldnt let me live this moment too long. Talk about foreshadowing, I didnt even get 24 hours to rub it in.

Day 2 Tuesday

The wind was suppose to come up around 11:00 so we got an early start stopping at Mondays glory hole first. Third cast on a 6XD chart/blue back my brother pops a 9-11. A couple of casts later, a 5-13 and then a 8-02. All the while nothing is even sniffing my lucky crankbait from the day before. I knew right then that I was in for a brotherly beat down. And the wind, lets just say that the weather person was off by about three hours; it was honking by 8:00. We went into the Tigers and fished some humps catching fish on large worms c-rigged and football jigs. Around 2:00 PM I catch a decent one on a jig when my brother noticed some small bass chasing shad up in the shallows. He slings his c-rig up into about 2 ft of water and gets the BITE. After a heart stopping jump and a trip around the boat we get the monster on board. She pushes the scales to 12-07 and is my brothers new PB. After adding up the days weights my brother also has his first individual forty lb bag at 44 lbs. So, not only did he top my big fish from the day before, he even bested my bag total. No complaints here though.

Brother's 12-07

I want to give Jay a huge amount of credit for our success. He worked hard for us and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend him to others. If you guys are looking for a guided trip on Falcon, give Jay Greishaw a call (757-537-5968 or falconlakebassguide@gmail.com)

Nice work Jay. I've given you more than enough head start now. Be prepared to go to battle next month if you have a day off.

Good work again...

Billy - I will let you pair up with Jay. Brett and I will gladly accept the challenge of facing the Hot Falcon guide and the 2011 Bass Champs angler or the year.

Maybe you can hire Jay for a few days to fine tune your skills.

WTN - Congrats on your fishing trip. Back to Back 40lb days are not easy.

You had me confused on the donkey show, glad it was fish and not the other thing that popped into my head.

Awesome fish!
