I have been thinking this would be a cool tournament to start/fish.

It would be difficult to trust everyone, but here would be the guidelines.
-you have to state the one bait you are going to fish with all day during the tournament.
example- 1/2 ounce white spinnerbait
You can fish with only a 1/2 ounce white spinnerbait, and if you loose the it you can put on another 1/2 white spinnerbait.

Thoughts?

It would defently be interesting, but like you said trusting people would be hard. But the bait i would choose it a Texas rigged green pumpkin bruch hog with a 1/2 ounce weight bc it versatile you can get it into nearly any spot like brush piles and under boat docks. I would like to see what other people would choose. Great thread.

Tourament fishing is about versatility and adjusting on the fly. You're wanting to take that aspect away. I doubt your idea will get much interest, but try just the same!

i'd likely be dragging carolina rigs or throwing weightless worms/senkos a lot in tournaments like that...

Sounds alot like the Rattle-Trap tourny they have on Rayburn every year, in Feb, I think. You can throw any bait you want as long as it says Bill Lewis' "Rattle Trap" on the box.

When in doubt, jerk.

I think some of the guys miss the point! This idea is about having a unique tournament....not meant to be like other tournaments. It's not for everyone, but neither is tournament fishing, some just fish and relax for fun. This concept has been done before and went over well. The ones I remember consisted of several monthly tournaments with each allowing a different lure. The fishermen were told they could only fish a spinnerbait in today's competition, the next tournament they could only fish a Texas rig worm, next tournament only a rattletrap and so forth. They were not limited to a certain color or size. With a little imagination, there are several versions. To keep people honest, they were paired with another angler by drawing.

I think the saltwater flyrod boys do that down near Port Lavaca. Sounds like fun to me.
